Unwin on board to lend support to new Captain

Rob Unwin will take over as Vice-Captain for the 2008/09 season. Rob, 24, joined Sevenoaks as an Under-7 and has played for the club ever since, apart from a brief sojourn at Cambridge University. He made his 1st XV debut aged just 18 and has now made more than 60 1st XV league appearances in a variety of positions.

Rob said he was honoured and excited to be taking on the role. "It means a lot to me," he said, "and I am determined to show that I can merit such a position of responsibility at the club."

Rob sees the side's main goal for the season to be getting back to playing with confidence, and self-belief and starting to enjoy playing and winning again. "If we can do this," he said, "I'm sure it will lead to a successful season for the club."

Rob will be teaming up this season with new captain Tim Golds. "I intend to support Tim throughout the season," said Rob, "and I think it's important that we set an example both on and off the pitch, encouraging an all-inclusive attitude and bridging the gap between the different teams at the club."
